Lately, I looked back on my life and relearned a lot of things. Most imporatntly, God reminded me of all those times there were only one set of footprints in the sand.

[January. 27. 2004]

It's already the end of January '04. Can you believe it? It's snowday in Waterloo, so everyone's hibernating in their holes reading.... except at 341 Lester, the boys are making special plans - whether or not to walk to Conestoga or Chapters - in the storm. Shima and I decide to stay home and continue with our work, although my head's telling me it's ok to take a break. =p

Chinese New Year was a good four days in Toronto after a delicious Chinese meal at Kingtin here in Waterloo with a bunch of people on CNY's eve. In four days I got to see a few people, spend time with my cousins and family which is always nice =), visited my granny throughout the weekend, got my laundry done, shopped and talked with my mom and saw Mabel. Drove back into waterloo w/ Ray, Jimmy and Jason and then watched CR basketball between {The Dribblers} and {The Maggots} aka ray's team & my housemates' team. Couldn't ask for a more packed weekend.. lotsa fun =) Please keep my granny in your prayers...she hasn't been too well with a bad cough and unable to swallow any food.

The term has picked up and midterms are soon approaching, which is alright...lotsa reading to do as usual...! God's taught me a lot more than I ever thought possible about strength and growing perseverance lately.. I guess it's just little blessings that shine when you thought u couldn't see such goodness. We all need reminders sometimes of how much we need Him, and how much He is already always there =) I thank Him for providing places to live for the fall as well, so that we don't have to fuss much about that either =) Back to work -o-o-.. cheerios :)

Our time is now. =) Happy 2004

[November.25.2003]

One month until we celebrate Christmas. The snow's gently covering the outside and the heat's cranked up inside 341 Lester. The term is almost at the finale!

IN THE SPIRIT OF FELLOWSHIP.

Thanks for the great prestudy and time of laughs Jos & Brian :) And then the contagious laughter from Sophia, Carolyn and Sam (foo :)). Last wednesday was awesome =)

Last week at cell group, we had a great discussion about "fellowship". Quoting Pastor Ken, "fellowship is the mothership of relationships." Comprised of companionship, membership, partnership, friendship and kinship; fellowship allows us to remind each other respectively that: "I am with you. I belong to you. I am serving along side you. I love you. and I accept you." Often the term fellowship carries with it other notions and politics when really, to fellowship is something we are born to do in a community, in which God has placed us. Throughout the term, God's really blessed my housemates and I by showing us how much we can be used to learn off each other's weaknesses and strengths, and help each other out. Our prayers were answered one by one; the house has become a home, Tammy has a job with one of the big five accounting firms Deloit & Touche, Tiff has a job with Environment Canada and Margaret with an awesome planning firm, both in Toronto, subletting was quite hectic but now it is all settled. Praise God for a term of challenges that He helped us to overcome.

SMALL GROUP. To Pandora, Esther, Steph, Tammy, Liz, Shima, Tiff, Margaret, Liana: Thanks for a great term girls. Although schedules didn't allow us all to meet every week, we've managed to squeeze in many great discussions and times of sharing and prayer... and cooking!! All the best to those leaving next term as the rest of us stay and face the Waterloo Winter and continue to meet :)

VOLLEYBALL. To Vertically Challenged, [Jimmy, Jason, Tim, Raph, Steph, Calvin, Vida, Adrian, Gracie], thanks for a great term of volleyball and fellowship. As we head onto next term on the same or separate ways, may God continue to bless your studies, time of maturing and volleyball!! We've had ups and downs this term but in every way God provided us with much to learn from. It's not about winning, but how we played the game that brought us close. (Even when our game wasn't so hot).

"Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Vivian & Vanis: Thanks for a term full of laughs and jokes as we tackled all the projects, stats and GIS. =)

Jon & Andrew: For the crazy conversation about faith and Jon's craziness. CRAZY. Lunch was fun =)

GRANNY. I went home this past weekend to Toronto, which was awesome. It's always great to be home. Saw my granny with my Aunt on Friday, which was a great time at the seniors home. It's a always a good reminder of how much we can do with our youth. With little effort, much joy can be brought to the hearts of seniors that are happy with so little. We have MUCH to learn from their gratitude and attitude.

OLD but NEW. I also spent time continue the big episode of clearing out in my bedroom which is still underway. Lots of memories as I dig out childhood goods to give away :) Found some vintage stuff too that my granny packed away and it's like discovering treasures again! It's just that I'm still working on separating junk and keepers.

DINNER. Friday night I attempted a roast beef dinner. It just happened that my sister stayed home for dinner, it was the end of a long week for my mom and Ray came over too. I'm not much of a cook; as proven by my mango pudding which was way too sweet and the roast which could have had more taste. But hey, life is a learning process... =) As my mom told her week's worth of stories, it was great to relax and sit down together for dinner.

DESSERT. Later in the evening, Kitty, Mabel and I went to Midland and Steeles for some chinese dessert. So good =) We also went to SCAC to watch the soldiers ball for a bit..which is always fun haha... Ivan: 8). Thanks for the present Kitty :) It was great to catch up and see how my girlies are doing admist the stress and boredom they claim they're in =p The holidays are almost here, hang in there =) In this year, we've seen each other through a lot....keep pressing onwards =)

ROBARTS LIBRARY. Saturday must have been the most productive work day in a while. Ray and I went down to Robarts Library down at the St. George campus of UT. This is my mom's famous spot when she studied there years ago. The library is quite intricate compared to the libraries in Waterloo; it's like a museum and really deems worthy my mom's ten years of stories of her UT days. There's private/enclosed cubicles and huge wooden tables... a very classic library indeed. In contrast, the proposed renovation for UW's Davis Centre library will be a very posh, modernized technologically oriented glass display. Looking forward to that as well.

SUNDAY. On sunday, the Malaysian-Singapore church at Bayview and Cummer came to our church to lead worship, which was great :) Got to talk to a few of the ECF/Sonlife people which was good :) Laura and Steve also got married on Saturday.... warmest congratulations and may God continue to bless the days you spend together :). Milliken's seen a lot of rough days and I pray that God blesses the church with leaders as some of our youth councillors move on to their next callings. After lunch with Jen and Mom, I joined in with Mabel's church ( LOGOS baptist church) for some volleyball :) It's always nice to be at their fellowship and spend time fooling around in the gym :) It's fun to be a little crazy and let loose sometimes, right Patrick? =) Shortly into the games though i hurt my ankle..but that's ok :) After volleyball, Ray kindly drove a bunch of us back to Waterloo...Jay, Jimmy and Jimmy were fast asleep in the back... it was so cute; too bad my camera was in the trunk.

I am thankful for a wonderful weekend and a wonderful term in which I've learned a lot more about myself and my family and just how good God is more and more. :) It's infinite right, so it's an endlessy blessed adventure. I really thank Him for using this weekend to challenge me to see beyond my own blindness and start being more in tune to what He's been nudging me to do all along.

In every way, I thank Him for the fellowship. "Two are better than one, because they have good return for their work: If one falls down his friend can help him up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

IN THE SPIRIT OF FELLOWSHIP, all the best as we head into exams and holidays! =)

[November.18.2003]

today, my little sister turns 16. Happy birthday Jen! May you continue to live your life with passion and style, love and joy, peace and happiness and always full of heart. God Bless you =)

[November 14.2003]

It's already the 14th of November, the snow's falling outside and the home stretch of assignments and exams is here. A different kind of feeling this year... as we've passed Remembrance day, and anticipating tonite's lifesong, I can't help but look back and testify to God's power. As we also remember all our blessings, let us not forget our duties and loved ones...one year ago, my softball teammate Brett Crothers was killed in a gang related shooting in his home. I pray for peace and comfort in his family...and that we might consider which part of this society we're heading towards to fill the differences God prepared for us to make.

"He prays to God and finds favor with him; he sees God's face and shouts for joy." Job 33:26

This term, I can in only say that I came in with a smile knowing it was gonig to be a good term. How, what, why I didn't know. But I do know that it was God's joy instilled in my heart...some things didn't turn out as expected (as usual) but for the better! Although joyful, I came in worried, insecure, kinda scared to be honest too!! Had many goals for the term, lots of work, many opportunities and I thank God for each one! Each worry, each insecurity, and each time things got twisted in a way I really wouldn't expect, God used to draw me closer and to seek Him. If I have one theme for this term, it would be PRAYER. Learning not to expect, and learning to recognize walking in oneness with God's infinite attributes. Learning to respond in prayer; it's not an all request Santa Claus deal =p

"I know no blessing so small as to be responsibly accepted without praer, nor any so great but may be attained by it." Robert South

The floodgates have been opened =) I praise God in all the ways we can see Him at work =) And all the circumstances that have been represented to draw us closer to Him through prayer :)

I stand in awe...and by grace I am left standing in awe. How could it be that someone loves me this much to bless my life like this? I thank God for all the challenges this term, for the way he's provided for our family, for my housemates, for all the planners, for our volleyball team Vertically Challenged, for our womens accountability group, for a friend closer than family, for the fellowship with God through all those things, and all the endless joys and tears of joy.....and I'm looking where my heart's looking :: home for the holidays :: =)

[November 5.2003]

Thank you all for your blessings showered upon me. I feel honoured to have such great friends :) From every icq message, txt message, webpage shout, phone call, e-card, gift, meal, email.. it's been a treat that I don't deserve. I praise God for each friendship and the encouragement it brings to be able to share in your experiences.

Looking back a year, much has changed and God has showed His power yet again. I stand in complete awe, and ask for your prayers to keep pressing onwards joyfully in all areas =) May we continue to spur each other on and praise God for our lives.

[October 20.2003] update journal.

[Sept 28.2003] update journal & imagestation

[September 22.2003]

After close to a month of not being at my computer, here I am! Sitting at my desk in Waterloo. Looking back on summer, all I can do is sit here, a big smile painted across my face as God's joy continues to just melt my heart. I stand completely in awe of Him and praise Him for all the work He's done in every area of my life and in the lives of so many people close to me. "It is not he who plants the seed, nor he who waters the seed, but God who makes things grow." 1 Corinthians 3:7

This term I'll be heading back to Toronto on most weekends. In waterloo I'm really excited about Volleyball w/ our team Vertically Challenged, our Women's Accountability Group, all the friends here I didn't get to see over the summer and just to watch and see what God will be doing on this campus. I'm excited for all the frosh [Vida, Jimmy, Calvin, Jo, Mel, Mel, Sylvia, Patricia, Josie, Tiffy & all the other blackscots].. all the best for your first year of this brand new stage =) This term of planning seems to be busy but not too demanding; there's time to do some cooking w/ the girls and keep refreshed working out. Like Mabel always says, "Try your best and leave the rest up to God." =) My housemates are great, this term is good because it's a positive challenge, God just continues to provide =)

Please keep me in your prayers and let me know too how you're all doing or if you need anything =)
